Subject: SUGGESTION: Please read an excellent article on San Onofre in today's OC Register!

Today's Orange County Register ( http://www.ocregister.com ) has published what is possibly the best article in a major daily newspaper about nuclear power I have ever read, by Chris Knap, titled: Going dark at San Onofre . It is certainly the best in a long time -- and Front Page, too!
Its publication in such a major paper is a watershed event ("A [Pulitzer-Prize-winning] news and information leader for nearly 100 years", according to their web site, with nearly half a million issues of their Sunday edition circulated each weekend.)
By all means please go to their web site and print out a copy, read it, email it to your friends and so on. There are two important additional articles, also by Chris Knap, co-published with it: San Onofre's Safety Record and Recent Safety Hazards At Aging Nuclear Plants.
With a tip of the bowler to Sir Winston C., let me say that this isn't the end of nuclear power. It isn't even the beginning of the end of nuclear power. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning. The Orange County Register and Chris Knap should be awarded a (another) Pulitzer Prize for their work, and it will hopefully start an avalanche of similar articles in papers around the country. So please -- go to the OC Register's site and read this article.
