You aren't, and never were, on any "email list" of mine (however you define that), and undoubtedly you are not on any of Bob Nichols' lists, either. My letters to you were both in direct response to your letters to me.
I again strongly suggest you show this email to SANDAG's legal department since you seem unaware of your moral and legal responsibilities to citizens' cries for justice. (Or maybe you already have sent it to them, in which case, they should have THEIR licenses to practice revoked.)
As a citizen of this county, I have a right to ask you what you have done to protect us from suicidal, hang-gliding terrorists seeking to destroy San Onofre, and I demand an answer. I further demand an answer from whoever supervises YOU, as to why you are allowed to respond as you have to this entire collection of correspondences. Your liability in this matter is now enormous.

Why don't you just answer Mr. Hoffman's question instead of trying
to change the subject and being evasive?

Thank you for sending me the information which you thought had originally come from me, so that we can isolate whom you need to contact if you wish to "unsubscribe".
The email shown below was not sent to you by me. It appears that it was sent to you by email@example.com (Dr. Ed Siegel). I had forwarded the original Wall Street Journal article to him, but I was not involved in Dr. Siegel's redistribution, nor have I seen his comments (in CAPITAL LETTERS) prior to your sending me this. Nor did I write the "Re" title in the subject line.
The person who sent it to you is a scientist, a metallurgist, a nuclear whistleblower, and a former employee of Westinghouse, Babcock and Wilcox, PSE&G, and the International Atomic Energy Authority. I'm sure he would be happy to discuss in person and in detail, with you or anyone else at SANDAG, the scientific facts he writes about, at any time, or simply make a science-based presentation to SANDAG. (I can find other nuclear physicists and nuclear engineers who would also welcome the opportunity.) However, he is not me. His arguments for shutting San Onofre immediately are at least as strong as mine (and have the full weight of decades of scientific research behind them), but they are not necessarily my arguments. I concentrate on the terrorist issues, such as: How is San Onofre protected from hang-gliding, suicidal terrorist coming up to the site from the nearby state park (or even further away)?
The answer is that it ISN'T protected from such things, and as a member of the San Diego Association of Governments, it's your duty to face that fact, understand it, and mitigate it. Anything else is criminal negligence. There is no other authority you can pass this responsibility off to. If there WERE some such organization or agency, say, the military at Camp Pendleton, or the Border Patrol, or the state police, or San Onofre's own "rent-a-cops", then those organizations/agencies would have already done something to prevent such an attack, but in fact, such an attack is physically possible and would have devastating effects for San Diego.
Therefore, it is your civic duty to accept and read Dr. Siegel's information and to ACT on it to get San Onofre shut down immediately. A non-operational nuclear power plant is much less vulnerable, than one which is operating, to terrorism, earthquakes, fires, floods, maintenance failures, ineptitude, and other problems. (Below, I have included a comment from a nuclear physicist and designer of military reactors which supports this statement.)
I strongly suggest you contact SANDAG's legal department and have them review this email and the related information, such as the following web sites, which I have created:
Internet Glossary of Nuclear Terminology / "The Demon Hot Atom":
List of every nuclear power plant in America, with history, activist orgs, specs, etc.:
List of over 300 books and videos about nuclear issues in my collection:
Learn about The Effects of Nuclear War here:
San-Onofre-specific information (mostly):
I warned Ohioans about rust problems at Davis-Besse prior to that debacle, and I warned the Nuclear Regulatory Commission about 747s being crashed into large structures prior to 9-11. Now I'm warning you about hang-gliding terrorist attacks and the damage that could be done that way. I do not have it in my power to act on these predicaments we have foolishly put ourselves in, but you do.
I am distributing copies of this letter to various other government officials, newspaper reporters, and to my own newsletter subscribers. As I suggested above, why not show it to SANDAG's legal department and let them guide you? Hopefully they will advise you correctly.
A warning about Davis-Besse which proved to be quite prophetic in light of what actually happened there:
A warning about 747s PRIOR to 9-11:
Comments (excerpt) by Jack Shannon (written today (November 21st, 2003) and addressed to a reporter in Ohio regarding a separate issue:

Our original correspondence from earlier this morning:
November 21st, 2003
As a member of SANDAG (San Diego Association of Governments), you should realize that my emails are an attempt by a local (Carlsbad, CA) citizen to communicate with elected or appointed government officials concerning a dire problem in California and around the world -- one which SANDAG should be working on -- namely, stopping San Onofre from polluting our air, soil, and water and replacing it's power output with clean, renewable energy solutions.
However, be that as it may, you are not in my database, so I cannot "unsubscribe" you. Perhaps someone who realizes the importance of the issues has forwarded one of my messages to you.
If you wish, you can send me the entire email you received, and perhaps I can figure out what happened. Or, perhaps you are subscribed under a different name and email address (I checked both parts to try to find you in my database).
I am also sorry that you feel you are not interested in my messages. Such disinterest by an elected or appointed government official in charge of protecting our environment is nothing less than criminal negligence.
